The best title ever

We left for our 28-hour passage from Newport to New York City. We left Newport on Friday morning at 6 AM and sailed into New York around 10 AM on Saturday morning.
We sailed in through Hell Gate Bridge. The bridge was named for the once dangerous channel it crossed. It’s name is derived from the Dutch word “hellegat”, which means “hell channel”. We also had the opportunity to see Riker’s Island which sits on the East River between Queens and the Bronx. The Island houses New York city’s main prison complex.
On our first day in the city, we anchored and got settled near the Statue of Liberty. The view of NYC from DTO was awesome. We headed into the city and took the subway uptown to tour the Empire State Building. It was nice because it was bright, sunny and had great views.
After getting off of the subway we walked to the Empire State Building and stayed for a while to enjoy the view. Afterwards, we walked around for a bit and had lunch around 3 PM south of Times Square…
