Learn to Love Brackish

When we last left off we were in Miami. We ended up leaving the city an hour after I wrote that story. It was a two day passage to Eleuthera, our first stop in the Bahamas. Once we arrived we took a break, cleared customs, and then we went to a place named the Saphire Blue Hole. Everyone loved it. We have gone to a lot of beaches while we have been here. In the Bahamas, specifically Eleuthera, most of the corner stores or grocery stores and coffee shops are cash only and you have the little gems here and there.

The Blue Hole was a fun place to go to and we ended up going four times this week. The first time we went I declined the rope you use to get back up because I only wanted to snorkel. The second time I actually jumped and I ended up nut tapping myself by hitting the water. I felt like I had died inside. The third time we went I also jumped and when I hit the water I smacked my chin and under arms on the water. The Blue Hole is the spot we all went to the most.

When you go to any beach here there is a long walk through dirt and then sand on your way to the water. Anytime you go to a beautiful beach with your friends your car also wants something; a car wash. The best part about the beaches is that all the sand sinks you in so by the time you get out you need a gallon of water per person to wash the sand off. You would probably need another for how salty some of this water is.

One of my other favorite places was the Sea Glass Window. The Sea Glass Window is a place that has a really big cliff; not for jumping, but for pictures. The Sea Glass Window also has something called the baths. You could call the baths just sea spray holders, but they are slightly bigger and closer to the size of pools. That same place has a bunch of pure clean sea salt. We went there twice and most people grabbed a bunch of salt.

In conclusion, when you go to the Bahamas get ready to spend a lot of money because it is expensive. Also get ready to buy a lot of water. First, to get the sand off. Second, to drink because it is hot. It is toasty so get ready to have sweaty clothes. Also, get ready to learn to love brackish water for showers. While Eleuthera was way too expensive and hot, places like the Blue Hole and Glass Window made this week okay.
